MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

What Makes Me Stand Out

REGISTERED GENERAL NURSE

I have a background as a Registered General Nurse and during my nursing career, I spent many years working within Oncology and caring for patients and their families coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis and managing loss and grief. This experience helped me to develop my understanding of how impactful a physical diagnosis is and the psychological scars that are left behind, but unseen.
During my nursing career, I was also the Lead Dementia Nurse in Hull. The impact on the brain of this disease is devastating for both the patient and their loved ones. This illness is often greatly misunderstood, as is the impact of the diagnosis.
Many people are touched by ill health and this impacts not only physically but can also affect us emotionally and impact negatively on our mental health. With my knowledge and experiences, I feel that I am able to offer psychological support and understanding of managing these emotions and a space to explore these together.
